Quarter slots?

I know that most slots in Vegas have converted to a paper pay out system according to what I have read here. But, do they still take coins? If I have quarters, can I still place them into the machine or is it only bills now that can be used? I like to keep a stash of uncounted quarters as play money but if it is pointless to bring them if they can%26#39;t be used.

Quarter slots?

Depends on where you play. Some casinos have machines that still accept coins, but many machines no longer even have a coin slot. I know for a fact that Caesars is totally coinless. My husband had some coins from another casino and wanted to cash them in at Caesars and couldn%26#39;t, because they had no machines to count them.

Quarter slots?

On the strip, the Tropicana is the only place I saw that still used coins.

You can bring them along, if you can%26#39;t find any machines right away, take them to the cashier. They will give you paper money for them. Play off the paper money.

We were at the Main Street Station and apparently some of the nickel machines not only take coins, they dispense them! (Much to my friend%26#39;s dismay!)

VegasMan, the cashier at Caesars was not interested in cashing in my husband%26#39;s coins. She told him it was a ';coinless'; casino since...(and I forget the date.) Someone suggested we could cash them in at the airport on our way out, but, guess what, the airport is also coinless.

Many of the casino%26#39;s have machines that still take coins (we just returned from LV on Friday). We found it to be too much trouble to carry around quarters (or nickels) in hopes of finding a machine that took them.

As mentioned, some machines also pay out in coins. When you want to cash in your coins for paper money, all cashier cages/booths do NOT take coins. There were times we walked half way across the casino to cash in coins (didn%26#39;t want to bring my tub of nickel winnings back home with me!).

Also, many casinos now have machines that you can dump your coins (dollar tokens, quarters, nickels) in and the machine will convert it to paper money. These machines are great when they work. I won about $75 on dollar slots. I put the coins in the counting machine and it gave me $16 in paper money and didn%26#39;t say it rejected any coins. I freaked out. After tracking down an attendant, they pointed out that the machine had rejected the other coins and spit them out the bottom even though the machine didn%26#39;t say it rejected them.

This is probably more information than you wanted to know but we were just in LV last September and things had already changed so much by the time we returned this May.

Enjoy your trip!
