Lake Las Vegas . . .

Any comments on places to stay out at Lake Las Vegas . . .i see there%26#39;s a ritz and a hyatt . . . looking to come down for a non-strip stay and wondering how this area shakes out?

Lake Las Vegas . . .

The Ritz Carlton in Lake Las Vegas was one of the best places we%26#39;ve ever stayed. If you%26#39;re looking to be off-strip for some peace and quiet you couldn%26#39;t do better. Top notch service, rooms and the area is drop dead gorgeous. There is a small ';village'; which has an tuscan feel to it, galleries, restaurants, etc. We had one of our best meals in LV there at Como%26#39;s. The casino is small, but is ok if the bug hits you. Their small restaurant is very good for breakfast - we quickly ditched Ritz%26#39;s $40 breakfast for that at half the price and just as good.

But, there is not much to do out there other than relax. We drove to the strip nearly every day that we weren%26#39;t doing side trips (Hoover Dam, Red Rock Canyon, etc.). But the drive wasn%26#39;t horrific.

Nice place - we%26#39;d go back.

Lake Las Vegas . . .

Hey Jaco,

Lake Las Vegas is a beautiful area and in my experience it is for alot of business people for sales conferences, meetings, and wealthy vacationers looking for a more quiet, resort style versus the loud Strip. I coordinate travel itineraries for some of the high end executives of my company, and when we travel for business to Las Vegas, they prefer to stay there versus the Strip. The majority of them prefer the Ritz Carlton over the Hyatt. Don%26#39;t know if that helps at all, but thought I%26#39;d throw out that information.

Cali, that does help. Any particular type of rooms favored over others? Any reason why Ritz over Hyatt?

Can dogs Swim???

Apparently the Ritz is slightly higher in amenities (nicer food, view, etc). I normally book the standard rooms since the company doesn%26#39;t reimburse for suites. I%26#39;m sure they are pretty nice though...prices on them sometimes go as high as $950/night!

Cali - thanks for the info.

have you ever booked one of the casbahs over at the hyatt?

No, I haven%26#39;t booked anyone at the Hyatt.

going to the hyatt in july. will let you know how i like it. the views look beautiful and pool area pretty good. will go to the Italian village on the lake also to check it out.

I%26#39;m also going, but to the Ritz in late July. Originally booked theHotel but got scared away by the remarks about the crowded pool. I tend to stay at the pool alot, and didn%26#39;t have to much fun at the Mandalay Bay pool just because it was too crowded for my taste. (The Ritz has a ';Vegas Family Vacation'; special with the third night free.) Will post a thorough review with pics then.

We have 5 days reserved at Montelago at Lake las Vegas.

We got an excellent price of 169.00 a night for a 1 bedroom lake view suite. Large living room with a full kitchen. Nothing miniature about the kitchen. Stove, side by side fridge, microwave, double sink.

From their website this room would normally be 229.00 but my daughter set aside 10 assorted rooms ( studio to 3 bedroom suites) for wedding attendants and guests.

Can%26#39;t wait to check out the ';village';

Calidancer, hopefully you will read this. From the above responses from you it sounds like you are a little more familiar with Lake Las Vegas.

It sounds like there will be a Hawaiin Fest on the weekend of Oct 21-23 at the Village? It sounds like it may take over most of the village.

When I say most, the wedding coordinator reasurred my daughter that there is a garden area for her wedding and will hold the 56+ people attending and won%26#39;t be in the ';hula'; theme.

Do you know anything about this?

My daughter is okay with this, she just reminded me to pack my fixins for the wedding plus my Hawaiin shirt.
