Bally's vs MGM Grand tower

Hi I am travelling to LV in October (22-25), never been before and am trying to choose between the two hotels above. recommendations please? many thanks

Bally's vs MGM Grand tower

Hi -you will love Vegas. We just got back from our first visit last week and are already planning to go back in October! And I am someone who would never have listed Vegas in my top 1000 of places I wanted to visit!!

Didn%26#39;t stay at either of your choices (stayed at Mirage which was superb in every way) but, just on location and overall impression as a new visitor, I would say that Bally%26#39;s looked nicer, more fun and in a much better location. Hopefully someone with more knowledge will also advise you.

I also suggest that you look at user reviews for both hotels to give an overall impression, but remember that everyone has different values!! We have seen some negatives about Mirage which we simply couldn%26#39;t agree with. We had originally only booked there for 3 nights and loved it so much that we went back again for another 3 nights after touring in Arizona, even though we had reservations at the new Wynn resort. Good luck - there is so much to see and do- I hope you will at least be able to enjoy some of it in the short time you are there.

Bally's vs MGM Grand tower

I have stayed at Bally%26#39;s several times. There are two towers there. If you choose to stay at Bally%26#39;s, request a room in the North Tower which has been renovated.

Ballys is in the center of the strip and a good location.

I happen to think that either hotel would be a good choice. MGM is a nice hotel located on one end of the strip near Luxor Tropicana, NYNY, etc.

I%26#39;ve stayed at both in the past year. Either hotel would be a good choice in my opinion. The Ballys North Tower room and the MGM Grand Tower room that I stayed in were comparable: both very nice. MGM might get the edge, but honestly the difference wasn%26#39;t that great.

Overall, MGM is a bit more upscale, and a bit more expensive. It has a beautiful entrance lobby and a greater selection of high-end restaurants. It is huge.

Ballys is smaller and has a more utilitarian check-in lobby, nothing fancy. It is attached to Paris through a ';cobblestone'; walkway, though, which offers a lot of great dining opportunities.

Personally, I prefer Bally%26#39;s location in the heart of mid-strip, directly across from Bellagio, and would choose it for that reason alone. But that%26#39;s just my preference; MGM is in a great spot itself.

MGM has a great pool complex, but when I was there last October they only had one small pool open.

thanks people for your useful advice: i think i will go for Bally%26#39;s

I have stayed at both and would stay at Ballys over MGM.It took us a long time to get from room to strip at MGM and room at Bally%26#39;s was much bigger.both have good pool complexes and access through to Paris is an advantage.also closer to Bellagio fountains. Another hotel I would highly recommend is Monte Carlo. -we tend to stay there everytime we go now.

Bally%26#39;s is also a good choice, because your player card works at Bally%26#39;s, paris and Caesars Palace, so you can earn more popints if you are a gambler.

Location is great!

In October, a lot of the hotels will only have one pool open. Some hotels will not have any open, so call the hotel to inquire first.

We%26#39;ve stayed at the MGM many times, and think you get a lot for your money there. The pool and spa are excellent, and it has many great restaraunts inside. The hotel is huge, but my husband and I like the larger hotels etter. There is lots more to do, the bigger the hotel is (but just our opinion though).

It really depends on what you are looking for in your stay, but we liked MGM much more than Bally%26#39;s. Bally%26#39;s is not bad, but MGM is our favorite.

Like the previous posters, I will also recommend Bally%26#39;s. I haven%26#39;t stayed at MGM, but I stayed at Bally%26#39;s fir the first time last month and loved it. The things that stuck out to me...

1. The lobby is actually right inside the entrance doors. You don%26#39;t have to wind all the way through a casino to get to the front desk, which was nice.

2. Bally%26#39;s has airport check-in, which could potentially save you a lot of time standing in line to check in at the hotel. Take advantage of this.

3. It%26#39;s at an intersection with Barbary Coast, Caesars, and Bellagio. PRIME location.

4. Rooms in the North Tower are very attractive and large. (Haven%26#39;t stayed in the South Tower, which I understand has not yet been renovated.)

Have fun!

I have stayed at both. I did not like Bally%26#39;s at all. MGM gets my vote. Better pool, better restaurants, nicer rooms. There is no comparision for these two hotels.

I%26#39;ve stayed at both. Bally%26#39;s is by FAR a better choice for a first timer if you want to spend much time seeing other places outside your hotel. It could take up to 30 minutes in and out of MGM if you get stuck in the Emerald Tower. Its a LONG walk and valet is almost always SLOW. Monte Carlo would be another good option.
