where to hang out downtown???

We will be going to LV on 5-5 thru 5-10. My question is, are there places to hang out downtown too? We aren%26#39;t into big celebrity clubs, and we don%26#39;t want to pay $10 for a beer. Am i dreaming or are there just nice little pubs or karaoke bars or dance clubs downtown. We will be staying at the Nugget and would prefer to walk to the clubs.(please no advice on switching to a Strip hotel b/c it%26#39;s not in the cards for us) Thanks in advance!

777 brewpub at main street station should do you fine.. also lounges of most of the major casinos downtown should be good and not too too pricey...

There is a lounge in GN that has live music in the evenings. I don%26#39;t remember the name of it but I liked the band and there was a dance floor. There are bands that play on stages in the street in the evenings too. Have fun!

The most fun place to ';hang'; downtown at night for a couple hours is the Golden Gate casino. This is a real, live, old-time Vegas joint complete with an old guy singing and playing a piano, cheap beers and drinks, low limit gaming and the best $0.99 cent shrimp coktail in town. Check out all the old pics and the first telephone in Vegas. Phone number was ';1';. Zax at the Golden Nugget is a pretty lively and cool place at night and the ';lounge area'; oregongirl was talking about is adjacent to the sports/race book between the hotel lobby and the main casino area.

I agree on the Golden Gate. When I go to Vegas with my wife it%26#39;s the strip. When I go with my sons it%26#39;s downtown. You won%26#39;t see any new places like the Golden Gate. Great place to hang out and relax. Also, Fitzgeralds will treat you great.

There are many weird things to do in downtown. Here are my favourites :

1) Take a massage while listening to a Vegas icon called ';Safe Sax锟斤拷锟? Don%26#39;t worry he is just a saxophone player!! But he is awesome !!

2) Playing Black jack in the world%26#39;s largest BJ table in 4 Queens.

3) Checking out the BIG golden nugget in GN. It%26#39;s the size of a baby, but don%26#39;t think about stealing it, it weighs hundreds of pounds !!!

4) Dine in Main Street Staion buffet (one of the best in the town) or having $9.99 steak-lobstar combo in Careful Kitty%26#39;s (El Cortez)

5) Drinking fresh-brewed micro-beers in main street station and then pee on a piece of Berlin Wall !!! I%26#39;m not kidding, check out the men%26#39;s toilet.

6) Meeting some lunatics in a casino called ';Golden Spike'; !! This place is a magnet for nuts. They%26#39;re harmless, but they will sing you Christmas carols, talk about getting fired for delivering mail while drunk, hit you up for a buck, or bum a smoke off you !!!

Jillian%26#39;s at the end of Fremont (Neonopolis) has bowling, pool, %26amp; a bar. It%26#39;s a nice place to hang out. You%26#39;ve also got Zax at the GN.
