Quck trip report 5-14 to 5-17

Grapped one of the shuttles from the airport Saturday morning for $4.50 each, pretty good deal. We booked the Boardwalk because it was just the two of us guys and we wanted location and price over a fancy hotel. Well, the Boardwalk is a royal class dive. The bed was awful, the sink drains didn%26#39;t, hallways stunk. Luckily we found a coupon for the Hilton at $45/night and moved there after one night. Wow, what a difference. The Hilton is off the strip, but a decent 20 minute walk there. I would highly recommend it for a nice place at a decent price.

The Star Trek Experience at the Hilton was something like $38, for a 20 minute movie, what??? The buffet was good, but huge lines at breakfast.

Taxies are a little expensive. Even going 2 miles would cost you $10.

The streets are filthy, littered with those porno guides they hand out on ever corner. Do they really get any business out of those things.

I didn%26#39;t realize that they gave you a free drink pretty much every place I was at as long as you were playing a machine or at a table and they don%26#39;t even expect a tip. Don%26#39;t think I paid for more than a few drinks, and they were only a buck or two. It was also very nice to be able walk around the street with your drink.

The Wynn is very nice, almost too nice. We entered one of the poker tournaments there but didn%26#39;t do too well. Did get to spend quite a bit of time watching Daniel Negreanu win $500k off of Mimi Tran on a one-on-one match. Ouch! The played hold%26#39;em from 7pm to 6am until he won it all. Found that there are a lot of guys who moved to Vegas just to be able to play hold%26#39;em 7 days a week. No job, no benefits, no retirement plan, no problem!

For someone who normally gets to bed about 11pm, it was amazingly easy to stay up until 3 or 4am in Vegas. Must be something in the water.

Stopped at Coyote Ugly on Saturday night. Got there early and beat the cover and line. Wouldn%26#39;t recommend it, the girl running the show had a hard time getting anyone up on the bar to dance. For $6/beer, there are better places.

Discovered craps on this trip, my new favorite game.

Ate a Margaritaville on Saturday, nice place, good food, a little expensive.

Stay away from the little pizza place by the Boardwalk, $11 for 2 slices and a coke.

Stay away from the $2 blackjack downtown. Spend little, win little. Not worth your time.

Suprised to find that across the street from the Monte Carlo was a hoodlum hangout. Wasn%26#39;t very comfortable walking through that quarter mile or so.

Ate breakfast at Coco%26#39;s by the Monte Carlo, pretty average food.

Nice to get back home to reality, can%26#39;t wait to go back.

You must have enjoyed your trip since you want to go back. it is true that the cocktail waitresses do not ask for or expect a tip but it is common courtesy to tip them. They work for a minimum wage and live off the tips. For a free drink it should not be a problem to tip them a dollar. Where else can you get a drink for only a tip? Sorry about your Boardwalk experience. Most people seem to like the BJ downtown. ??

Quck trip report 5-14 to 5-17

Trust me, the cocktail waitresses expect a tip. A buck a drink should work, and they survive by tips..so next time..give a little.

I did tip, but saw that most people were not.

Folks who don%26#39;t tip don%26#39;t get as many drinks as folks who do. Its not that server don%26#39;t expect tips, its that they have lowered expectations that people will do the right thing!

Hey Participant

pretty critical trip report ! you sure you want to go back?!

I luv the star trek experience- it was only about 15.00 when it was new. Vegas is a world of its own cant wait to go back 2 more weeks till showtime ! Theres not much in Vegas I dont like or I wouldnt go every year.

thanks for your comments though.

Thanks for taking the time to write a review. Was this your first time in Vegas? 3 weeks from today I will be there!

I actually really enjoyed the trip there. It%26#39;s just that everything seemed a little expensive, especially when you%26#39;ve heard the old rumors that it%26#39;s cheap to eat and sleep. You have so many ways to spend your money, the choices are dizzying. I really just wanted to give a few hints to upcoming visitors to know what to expect. The Hilton was very good, the beds were comfortable, the pool nice and I thought that the Star Trek themed casino was cool.

Where is this Hoodlum Hangout across from the Monte Carlo? I must have missed that, lol...

Good review...Thanks
