Wynn Questions

My wife and I will be at the Wynn this week with our four year old and a babysitter; staying in a Tower Suite. I锟斤拷锟絛 like some input on a few things from those who are in the know:

1. I need to check-in by 3:00 in order to get to a function by 4:30. (I锟斤拷锟絭e requested early check-in.) Is this likely, given the Wynn service troubles reported here?

2. Are the pools at The Wynn overcrowded? Is the service at the pool pretty decent?

3. Am I to believe that I can not use a stroller to get my daughter through the hotel if need be?

4. Is Caesars an easy walk from The Wynn?

5. What precautions might you recommend to account for the Wynn锟斤拷锟絪 early troubles?

6. Is Vegas jammed right now or is it a lesser congested time of year?

I am a veteran Vegas traveler who usually stays at The Bellagio but wanted to try the new place this time. Reading this board makes me rethink this just about every minute but I锟斤拷锟絤 gonna stick it out.

Thanks for taking the time to help out.

Wynn Questions

1. Last week I checked in about 1:30, the room was ready, but they don%26#39;t gaurantee anything before 3:00.

2. Sorry, we didn%26#39;t go to the pool.

3. I believe you can use the stroller since you are a hotel guest.

4. Caesars is just less than a 1/2 mile. We took a cab to the forum shops at caesars, I think it was about 5.50

5. The only problem we had was a cafe charge we didn%26#39;t make. They took it off.

6. I was at Wynn May 18-20 during the week. Crouds weren%26#39;t bad, Friday afternoon it was getting more crouded.

7. We love Bellagio, my concern was that I wouldn%26#39;t want to stay anywhere else but Wynn now. Wynn is beautiful but has all the signs of Bellagio.

See my Wynn review from 5/21

Have Fun and good luck

Wynn Questions

1.We checked into the Wynn around 2:30 pm on friday, the 13th and it was not busy. There was no line for check in and the guy who took our luggage said it would only take about 20 minutes to get it to our room.

However, we did not wait for our luggage to arrive and left the room for a few hours expecting the luggage to be there when we returned-it wasn%26#39;t. When I called for it, the girl that answered said, ';Well, have you called for it to be sent up?'; , as if I should know that apparently is the only way I can get it??? It was delivered about 25 minutes later and we were late for our dinner reservation.

So my advice is to make sure the bellman knows to get the luggage to your room right away or take it up yourself.

2. I went to the pool on Saturday (crowded) and Sunday (not crowded). Service was ok. The bar got very busy late in the afternoon on Saturday. I don%26#39;t think there%26#39;s very much food served by the pool, maybe some wrap sandwiches and that%26#39;s about it. We ate at the Terrace restaurant near the pool and I had the best cobb salad that I%26#39;ve ever had in my life.

4. The weather was in the low 80%26#39;s when we walked to Caesar%26#39;s, if it was really hot, I would take a cab.

When checking in Las Vegas the bellman will usually tell you to call for the luggage when you arrive in the room. The reason is because people are often distracted in the casino and don%26#39;t always go straight to the room. They also need to know what room you%26#39;re in and want you to be there when they arrive. It%26#39;s all about tipping. The guy who takes your bags from the car isn%26#39;t the same one who brings them to the room, you should tip him too.

I was a bellman in the early 80%26#39;s, It%26#39;s all about service and tips!

Thanks for the answers. Very helpful.

  • yard srawberry marqaritas for $5

I remember seeing a post on here a while back about $5 yard marqaritas. i think it was someone downtown, and they sell them on the street? anyone know about these?

    yard srawberry marqaritas for $5

Down town... La Bayou, the place that hands out beads when you walk in? I%26#39;m not sure how much they cost anymore but many flavors and they were huge. I plan on going there again in Sept! ;-)

    yard srawberry marqaritas for $5

    thanks for the info!

I also read somewhere on this forum that ';Key Largo'; has happy hour 24 hours a day... with 50-cent drafs and 99-cent margaritas...Now that%26#39;s a deal..

Unfortunately, I dont have any more information..I don%26#39;t even know where Key Largo is at... but it%26#39;s worth me sharing this information with you..cause if you love margaritas as much as I do.. a $1.00 will never be spent better.. =0)

Anyone been there? or know where it%26#39;s at?

The Key Largo is no more.

Think the yards are more like $7 now at the bayou. Take my advice, get the 99 cent 8 ounce size and add a shot of your favorite for $1.

I believe the Westward Ho has .99 margaritas also. At least they did last yr.

    kellerite is correct. $7

The 8 ounce styrofoam cups of maragarita%26#39;s (at the same place) pack quite a punch.

    Vegas or camping?

Now that Memorial day is upon us my wife will be bugging me to go camping. Is their a worse experience ytou can have . To get ready to go and unpack and clean up after you get back takes forever (I would rather be at work). To top it off after working all year you get to sleep in the dirt. Am I missing something? Is this fun? Luckily a nephew of mine is getting married in Vegas in Sept. and I can get pampered and spoiled like you should on vacation. I forgot about the insects and the elements (rain) you have to endure. The Wild Wild West and the Western sould be an upgrade from camping!

    Vegas or camping?

Tell your wife to camp in Vegas, while you stay at a Hotel.

    Vegas or camping?

    Hey dude, YOU married her...

    Blackjack

    Which casinos do 3:2 payouts

    Blackjack

pretty much all of them will, but it%26#39;s a 6 deck (or more) shoe game.

    Blackjack

Single deck games have 6:5 payout at most casinos. Double deck and shoe games have 3:2 at most places. Avoid the casinos that use the constant shuffle machines on their shoes.

Question on attire at end of June

We are from Florida, another hot state, and shorts are acceptable attire year round, day or evening. Is this the case in Vegas? I think the nicest place that we will be eating is probably Delmonico. Will my husband need a sports coat for that, or would dockers and a collared shirt do? Being from a beachy town we%26#39;re all about casual and comfortable here. We of course will dress for when we see ';O';, but curious about casual evening dinners and in the casinos in the evenings. Thanks so much.

Question on attire at end of June

Leave the jacket at home. He%26#39;ll be fine in slacks and a polo, or similar shirt. Flip flops, torn jean shorts and a tank top with flowing pit hair won%26#39;t get you turned away as long as you have room on the credit card. The rest of the time you%26#39;ll be fine in shorts and a comfortable yet tasteful top.

Question on attire at end of June

Despite what some may tell you about dress codes here at restaurants, all that is really required is a wallet. Nightclubs do have dress codes to keep riff raff out, but very few restaurants will at least require tailored shorts, collard shirts, and shoes. So as long as you do not go in cut-off and tee shirt you will be fine any where including shows. Dress in what ever you are comfortable with.

    Gameworks

does anyone know the prices at gameworks I cant find anything on there website

    Gameworks

It%26#39;s a marketing ploy, if you knew the prices you%26#39;d stay away. What prices are you most intersted in?

    Gameworks

I%26#39;m not sure about the one in Vegas, but I%26#39;d venture to guess all Gameworks are pretty similar. You buy a card with whatever denomination you want (let%26#39;s say $20). Each game you then decide to play takes a portion of that $20 off your card (like an ATM card). You%26#39;ll swipe the card and the game you%26#39;re about to play will show your remaining balance. At any time you can recharge the card to get more credits (of course, that will cost you whatever you decide to put on it). Typically, the card itself cost $1 and $20 will give you a good chance to play whatever you want for about 1 hr. Sometimes, they%26#39;ll offer deals like buy $25 in credits and get $10 free, so ask if they have anything like that going on. Hope this helps

thanks that helps I didnt know if they had one price to play for so long

    Conkay-

The $20 for 1 hour reference works for me- you might blow through $20 in 10 minutes (very possible). Sometimes though, they will offer unlimited gaming for an hour (again, depends on deals they%26#39;re offering). It%26#39;s not terribly cheap, but doing it once in a while is fun and worth it (again, to me....)

The video games range in price from $.25 to $1.00 per person to play. How long that lasts is dependent upon how good of a player you are. Not sure how much it is to climb the rock wall.

Try to look online for coupon deals that offer $50 free play with any $50 purchase. I found a similar deal in summer of 2003 when I was ther with my family.

    Try this site:http://www.lasvegas-nv.com/las-vegas-coupons.htm.

Otherwise do a Google seach under Las Vegas Coupons.

    Good Luck.

    Prices going up, up, up

So, last year we had 8 nights in Vegas and stayed off-strip. This cost us 440GBP ($815). 20-28 March, from Manchester UK.

This year we stayed at IP for 7 nights, cost us 510GBP ($950) - 27 Apr - 4 May.

Now I%26#39;m pricing up for another trip later this year (7 nights at IP) and the prices are all higher (even in November). 630GBP ($1165).

I%26#39;ve also looked at prices for next March and they are higher still - whats going on?

Any Brits found any good deals for later this year?

    Prices going up, up, up

I think it really depends on how far in advance you book your hotel. I booked mine over 3 months ahead this year and it is way cheaper than last year. The prices now for July have gone up more than $200 for a week stay.

    Prices going up, up, up

It also depends on time of year you are going. You went this year at a much more desirable time weather wise. Also, you need to book closer in. Of course hotels are going to charge more this far out. They will only start offering deals when they realize that they are not filling the rooms.

    hi roaming roaming,

i booked with expedia at xmas, flight and hotel westgate flamingo bay off strip 9 night%26#39;s 455 GBP. this is for a september holiday, pretty good hey.

Have you tried booking flights and hotels separately? Sometimes you can get a good deal on flights with Delta or American Airways (both from Heathrow, I think). We%26#39;re going end of September, but we booked the flights a long time ago (under 锟斤拷300 each) - we%26#39;re still surfing the hotels, but there are some great deals on the lower graded properties, Sahara, etc.

    Good luck!

I have found this year to be really expensive for some reason. I am going the first weekend in November and found the flights had been coming out at 锟斤拷550+ for most of the year, till about 2 weeks ago, when I got a flight for 锟斤拷403.

All I did was keep checking Expedia/Ebookers on a daily basis as in the end they pick up a batch of seats, just got to be on the ball.

You%26#39;re right. I%26#39;ve noticed over the past 6 yrs on average the price has been increasing, especially for hotel rooms. I go twice a yr, usually early aug and for Xmas.

booked for Jan, 5 nights at Sahara which came to 405 GBP per person, (US Air). Have just booked 11 nights end of June at Sahara (Virgin) for 644 GBP. This is an average price for us, we travelled Sept last year and again it was around the 700 mark for 10 nights so we haven%26#39;t noticed a difference. We booked all on the net. Obviously if we stayed at a higher class hotel this would increase the cost.

I really think that all the Brit prices have been hiked up because of the current exchange rate. Think about it...they know you will still go to the States because the pound is so strong against the dollar, and you are still getting a great value holiday. The major companies know what they can get away with and there is probably a high demand for holidays to the US. I know that flights are alot dearer than they were 18 months ago from Uk to US, not so bad the other way though.. funny that...

Because of an American phenomenon called March Madness(the NCAA hoops tourney) combined with a lot of college spring breaks and St Pattys day they can expect to be close to 100% ocupancy. I used to got for the first week of the tourney but it is too much of a hassle. I now go for the final four the first weekend of April. I guarantee that if you come any other time then March you will be happier. The first weekend of the tourney even the Boardwalk was charging more than $500 a night!

OK, so I understand March Madness re: NCAA and Spring Break etc but how come we got 8 nights so cheap in 2004 and now its almost double.

Admittedly we stayed off strip (Key Largo Quality Inn) but even so we all know the IP is not a high end hotel!

The best deal I%26#39;ve found so far is a package holiday from Airtours at around 550 GBP for a week on 5th November but how dead is it likely to be in November?
